Who IS Next?

Kids

The next four pictures are the kids shot at trying to do a "who’s next" album cover.

This was taken in August of 2007 on the “Grandma Tour”. The kids decided they would try their take at a random pose “Who’s Next” album cover like picture.

We took a number of them. This was my favorite.

My the years have gone by quickly.

I’m continously amazed at watching how the kids have grown over the years. We recently got all of our film developed (5 years worth) and there were some fun pictures on them.

We tend to take forever to develop film, which is why I like digital photography so much - instant gratification.

Anyway, looking back at old pictures, I just thought this collage would be fun to look at. The top picture is from around 2000 or so. The three bottom ones are taken from the Christmas week photos.

Jake and Andy - Then and Now.

Remember this posting from September of last year comparing pictures of Kelsi from then to now? Spending some time going through pictures this morning I was amazed by how the boys have grown over the past few years. Here’s another comparison.

Ron and the boys - Navy Pier

This picture was taken about 2 or 3 years ago. Every once in a while, Jonna will take a picture of the three of us together.

Andy, Ron, and Jake at Epcot

This was taken this month in Orlando. Boy, does time fly. Once again, I’m dressed almost exactly the same.

What a difference 10 or so years makes - ish.

I was going through some old photos in my Subversion repository this morning and I came across a picture taken of Kelsi and I in the Woodstock Square when when she was around 3 or 4 years old. As I sat here looking at it I remembered that I had asked Jonna to take a picture of the two of us to send out to some relatives a few months ago and decided to load them both up in The Gimp to take a side by side look at them.

Ron and Kelsi - 1993
Ron and Kelsi - 2004

The very first observation I made while looking at these pictures is that back then my hair may have actually been taller than she was at the time. The second thought I had was the surprising realization that I haven’t changed the way I dress in about 10 years. Once I got past these though, I started thinking about how great of a kid she is and how proud I was back then every time I looked at her and the high hopes I had for her.

As I look at the picture on the bottom, I’m reminded of what a great kid shes turned out to be so far. She’s smart, as level headed as a 13 year old can be, gets good grades in school, loves music, and is really everything I had hoped she’d be at her age. She is just one of those kids that makes a dad really proud.

As I finished my little nostalgic episode this morning, I realized how quickly the time has passed and that as I look at my daughter I wouldn’t change a thing about her (aside from maybe having her switch to Linux for her computing needs and having an increased musical appreciation for Steve Vai). I, on the other hand, am getting better — but I don’t think I’m quite there yet. The hair is a little more under control, but I definitely think its about time for a new wardrobe!
